China's Imported Mutton Products in Aug

According to the data from GACC, China imported 26,636 tons of mutton products in Aug, valuing 147.30 million dollars with a YoY decrease of 8.8% and 20.6%. Its import volume and price decreased slightly by 5.33% and 9.07% compared with data in July.

 

According to the data from GACC, China imported 26,636 tons of mutton products in Aug, valuing 147.30 million dollars with a YoY decrease of 8.8% and 20.6%. Its import volume and price decreased slightly by 5.33% and 9.07% compared with data in July.

 

From Jan to Aug, China imported a total of 243,839 tons of mutton products, and the cumulative import value is 1.48 billion US dollars with a YoY decrease of 19.7% and 12.8% in the volume and value.

 

Among products categories, frozen bone-in mutton (products with HS Code: 2044200) was the top one imported in Aug, accounting for 85.30% of the total imported products, which surged 7.64% percentage points compared with the proportion in Aug 2021. Other category frozen lamb carcasses & half carcasses (HS Code: 2043000) dropped its proportion from 11.60% in last Aug to 6.74% in this Aug.

 

Main source countries for import mutton products were New Zealand, Australia, Uruguay, and Chile accounting for 57.39%, 39.86%, 1.56%, and 1.19% respectively. This Aug saw no import data of mutton products from Argentina. New Zealand and Australia still are the top two source for China's import mutton products. While the gap between NZ and Australia has narrowed year-on-year. In last Aug, NZ and Australia accounted for 60.25% and 35.62%, with the gap of 24.63%. The gap data decreased to 17.53% in this year.
