Brazil Detects the First Case of Poultry Infected With H5N1 Avian Influenza

The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Supply (MAPA) announced on June 27th, local time, that the first case of poultry infected with H5N1 avian influenza was discovered on a farm in Serra, Espirito Santo state.


The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Supply (MAPA) announced on June 27th, local time, that the first case of poultry infected with H5N1 avian influenza was discovered on a farm in Serra, Espirito Santo state.

 

In order to prevent the spread of the epidemic, Brazilian local agricultural authorities have implemented disinfection measures on the affected farm. MAPA also stated that the discovery of the first case of poultry infected with avian influenza in the country will not result in restrictions on the export of poultry products, nor will it affect the food safety of poultry product consumption in the country.
