On 29th may, Uzbekistan has received permission to export chicken paws to China, a Podrobno.uz correspondent reports, citing data from the Uzbek Embassy in China.

During the state visit of Uzbek President Mirziyoyev to China on May 18-19, 2023, the two sides signed a series of cooperation documents, including a memorandum of understanding on sanitary and phytosanitary requirements for Uzbekistan's export of frozen poultry to China.

The memorandum clearly specifies the sanitary and phytosanitary requirements. For example, frozen chicken feet must comply with China's import requirements for sanitary and phytosanitary measures, as well as Chinese food safety and hygiene standards. The products are only allowed to be exported to enterprises registered with the Chinese Animal and Plant Quarantine Bureau.

The embassy article also states that in China, chicken feet are a delicacy with many different cooking methods. Before 2010, the Chinese chicken feet market was well supplied. The national economy and overseas trading partners (such as the United States) jointly ensured an abundant supply of products. However, since early 2011, China-US relations have deteriorated, and China has banned the import of meat products from the United States. As a result, most of imported meat market shares remained vacant and was quickly filled by new exporting countries.
