In the first seven months, China's beef imports increased by nearly 300000 tons, and it is expected that the annual beef imports will reach a historical high of more than 2.5 million tons.

In Jul 2022, China totaled 624,800 tons of meat (including offal) with a MOM increase of 6.74%. Among them, the beef import volume in Jul increased significantly, setting a record high, with a MOM increase of 17.53% to 270,000 tons, accounting for 43.22% of the total meat import volume in Jul.

In Jul 2022, the beef imports from the top six major producing countries accounted for about 94% of the total beef imports of China in that month: beef imports from Brazil accounted for 41.34%, Argentina 19.49%, Uruguay 12.25%, New Zealand 7.69%, Australia 6.98%, and the US 6.14%. Except for Uruguay and the US, the other four major producing countries showed a slight MOM increase.

The import volume of beef in the top six major production countries only increased slightly compared with that of last year due to the policy of restricting the export of beef in Argentina, while the import volume of beef in other production areas increased significantly.

Specifically, in Jul 2022, China imported 41,479.2 tons of beef with bone and 228,506.86 tons of boneless beef; 3,961.71 tons of chilled beef and 266,095.43 tons of frozen beef.
