The state planner NDRC will arrange for local authorities to release pork reserves in batches from Sept to ensure pork supplies during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day. At present, the local governments of Guigang City, Sichuan City, and Guilin City release the announcements, among which Guilin City has issued a notice on the specific release work plan.

The Guilin government said it would start releasing and selling frozen pork from government reserves between Sept. 5 and 10. This time, 33 tons of frozen pork will be released, including three varieties of pork belly with skin, pork shoulder, and hind pork leg.

11 large-scale commercial supermarkets in urban areas have been selected as delivery outlets. Each outlet plans to sell 500 kilograms of reserved frozen pork every day, with a subsidy of 8 yuan/kg from the municipal government. The price of pork belly with skin, pork shoulder and hind pork leg are 11 yuan/catty, 12.3 yuan/catty and 12.3 yuan/catty respectively, only about two-thirds of the price of fresh pork. It also stipulates that each consumer shall not buy more than 3 kg of pork reserves per day.

The personnel of the Guilin Development and Reform Commission said that each supermarket should mark the price clearly and the price tag must indicate the product name, pricing unit, maximum price, and complaint hotline to facilitate society supervision. Guilin Municipal Market Supervision Bureau will strengthen the price supervision and punish any violations of laws and regulations in accordance with the law.
