The Import Volumes of Mutton Products Yearly Grows Yet Prices Down in Oct

Australia, New Zealand, Uruguay, and Chile are still source countries of China's imported mutton products.

 

China mainland imported 25,200 tons of mutton products in Oct 2022 with an import value of 135 billion US dollars according to the latest data from GACC (China's Customs), up 17% YoY (21,591 tons) yet down 1% (136 billion US dollars) compared with last Oct. The average import price is 5,369 US$/T, declining 15% year-on-year, or almost 1,000 US$/T.

 

The top three import categories of mutton products are frozen bone-in mutton, frozen boneless mutton, and frozen carcasses or half carcasses lamb, accounting for 81.79%, 10.47%, and 1.43% respectively, rising 1.09 p.p., 4.75 p.p., yet dropping 7.41 p.p. market shares this year.

 

Australia, New Zealand, Uruguay, and Chile are still source countries of China's imported mutton products. October saw 54.12%, 43.74%, 1.79%, and 0.35% market shares of these countries. Last Oct, Australia, and New Zealand play equal parts of both 47% market shares. This year the products imported from Australia surged by 7 percentage points, yet New Zealand found a 3.26 p.p. drop in market shares.
